Add to this the mouth watering local cuisine and wines and we at Freeride Italy feel that we can offer a unique and memorable mountain biking experience. Freeride Italy is run by a British expat who has settled and married in the area, enjoying both the mountains and the way of life. Combining many years of biking and experience in the hospitality industry we feel we have something special to offer.Formerly from Cornwall, James Russell grew up surfing and riding bikes on the nearby cliffs and abandoned mines. Work then was lifeguarding and making surfboards which lead to several years traveling the world. After time spent in Hawaii, France, Australia and Indonesia James found himself living in Italy. Originally intending to stay for 6 months, this time frame then got extended indefinitely by meeting local girl Lucia Ligi. Building boats and raising a family with Lucia occupied the next few years. In this time the small surf of the Adriatic meant new ways to play had to be found. Snowboarding and then Freeride mountain biking soon filled the gap. In fact these new sports rekindled a feeling like the one surfing gave as a teenager. Now looking to pass on this buzz with others (and a great way to get even more trail time) James has started Freeride Italy. Freeride Italy has come to be as a way of sharing the riding and fun times in this special place. |
